Spring (and kind of Summer now?) has sprung here in Chicago and it’s about time I talked about my favorite floral shops (so far!) around Chicago.
I have a weird likening to them for some reason. When I find a new floral / plant shop I just get so excited! Maybe it’s all of the different textures, smells, shapes and colors – a very sensory experience – that I love. Whatever it is, I like ’em!
Asrai Garden – Wicker Park
In my neck of the woods you’ll find Asrai Garden. I’ve seen this place mentioned online a few times, which is what made me want to check it out. Well, here I am now recommending it to you…so that just shows you how great this place is!
In the prime spot right off North and Damen, this little boutique is a little mystical oasis. With a dark, yet inviting vibe, the blooms and foliage surround the store. In between the leaves you’ll find a myriad of magical things – from candles and incense to taxidermy and tarot. And of course, the flowers are great too! The selection is such a moody, yet loving touch.
Fleur – Logan Square
Ohhhhhh boy do I love me some Fleur. Not only is the one of the cutest shops ever, but all of the greatness inside just makes it over the top. Right on Milwaukee in Logan Square, this is place you can’t pass up.
First off, they have a shop cat. YUP. A FREAKING SHOP CAT. I don’t know the name or sex, but it is adorable and such a gentle old soul. I try and pet it every time I go in, usually it’s just hanging in the sunlight.
Now, for the actual shop, can we talk about these (new) floors? GORG. Not to mention their selection of air plants, succulents, little baby plants and the pots/homes for them are all spectacular.
This floral shop also speaks to me because of their selection of apothecary items, home goods and decor. Not only do I love the fact that they carry these in a way that compliment their plant and flower selection, but they’re totally brands and pieces that are right up my ally.
I also love how they carry a little bit of everything else like cards, stationary, kitchen goods and things like that. It’s just enough of these “extra” bits.
Of course, the meat of their business, flowers, are stunning. I highly recommend following them on instagram to see their wedding and event work – all the work is gorgeous. In store, they have such fun and vibrant blooms that I love. Plus, the people behind the counter are always so nice and a joy to chat with.
One last thing that I love about Fleur is that they host workshops/classes. Bringing in different artists and makers from the city, you’re able to come in and enjoy the space and create something with community. I’ve been dying to attend one of their terrarium building classes but a date just hasn’t worked out for me quite yet.
Sprout Home – West Town/Ukrainian Village
Right off Chicago and Damen in West Town you’ll find Sprout. On the outside, you probbaly won’t think much of it. But step inside and you’ll discover a magical jungle-land.
If you’ve ever pondered what a plant wonderland looks like, this is it! Floor to ceiling and wall to wall, Sprout Home is covered in a wide range of plants and flowers of all sorts. Each corner of the store has a special little feeling like you’ve wandered into a new place.
You’ll find (small) sections of some crystals and candles – which you know I love – but the true draw to Sprout is the atmosphere and huge selection of foliage and flowers. Plus, it’s super Instagrammable, which is a Millennial plus. 😉
The fun doesn’t stop there because there’s a huuuuuuuge outdoor space too. And it’s covered in just as many plant goodies. I’d definitely call this place a Chicago must see.
Right across the street is their “Kitchen + Table” concept focused on table ware, dishes and other home goods. I haven’t been, but it’s on my list!
Adam and Sons – Humboldt Park/California Corridor
Lastly, head out west to Humboldt Park and check out Adam and Sons in the California Corridor. With vibrant art on the outside you can’t miss it!
The vibe of Adam and Sons is more like a “traditional” home and garden shop / nursery – very practical and lotsssss of pots and dirt everywhere! Grab your little red wagon and start piling on the bushes.
You feel the homeliness with little quirky personal touches around the inside of the shop. You can tell the shop is family owned and is well-loved, which is what makes it so special. It brings me back to my childhood with funky pieces and cute little garden ornaments sprinkled throughout.
This is another place where you can find just about any plant that you may be looking for. There are tons of varieties and there’s always a helping hand wherever you turn to answer any questions you may have.
Adam and Sons also has really great prices, so you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get decent plants that are healthy and with a wide selection. They have a HUGE outdoor space as well and you’re bound to find what you’re looking for.
There are so many more floral and plant shops around town, but this is just the beginning of my exploration. I’m already keeping a list of places I’m excited to check out next! Don’t worry – I’ll report back on those too. 😉
